The cat barely escaped being hit by passing cars as they looked for assistance. A compassionate woman came to his rescue, picked him up, and carried him to safety. He let himself be put in a carrier without resisting or becoming frightened.

The woman was able to get the cat, Gavroche, medical attention with the help of the community. When he tested FIV+, it was not surprising. The wounds from a difficult life on the streets were visible on his body.
When given the right care and a secure indoor environment, cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives.

Gavroche received a warm welcome from Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an all-volunteer rescue. Now that he was out of the streets, he would never be on his own again. At first, he was understandably shy, but he didn’t act aggressively.
He warmed up to his foster family after realizing he was no longer afraid. In order to get as much affection as possible, he flopped onto his side with his fluffy belly on full display, leaned into head scritches, and sought attention.

Gavroche is a large-framed cat who is thought to be around three years old, but at his core, he is still a kitten. “He is very charming and simple to fall in love with. He appeared unaffected by his past, as though he was aware that those trying times were behind him.
He’s developed into a real love bug who never gets enough pets and is always looking for affection.
Gavroche is sweet, kind, and soft, much like a teddy bear. He doesn’t let his blindness stop him. He uses his other senses to carefully map the house in order to navigate his surroundings. “His reflexes are superb. He takes his time discovering new locations and always finds comfortable spots to take naps.
He has also made friends with the other amiable cats in the house, and his serene, kind demeanor has won everyone over.
Gavroche keeps getting better every day. He genuinely enjoys being petted and is growing more self-assured.
“He thrives on routine, but he can still get nervous when things are strange or overly hectic. He feels more at ease and reassured when you talk to him before you approach. He feels more secure in his surroundings thanks to this mode of communication.
Gavroche is living like a king because of his rescuer and numerous committed volunteers. He no longer has to fight to survive in an unseen world or brave the cold.
He is now surrounded by loving people and feline companions who constantly remind him of his love.
