They Welcome 2 Cats from the Outdoors Just in Time, and Days Later, One of Them Brings Kittens into the World

They welcomed two rescued cats indoors just in time, and within days, one of them gave birth to a beautiful litter of kittens.r

Late last month, Amber, a devoted foster volunteer with Tails of the Forgotten Paws, was contacted about two cats rescued from a nearby colony. One of the cats was heavily pregnant.

The volunteers safely brought the pair in and transported them to Amber’s home. The cats, later named Reba and Harry, instantly shared a close bond. Though they arrived dirty, frightened, and unsure, they were finally in a safe environment. “I believe Harry is the father, and he’s incredibly sweet,” Amber shared with Love Meow.

At first, both cats stayed hidden under furniture, but behind their fear were gentle and loving personalities waiting to emerge.

Gradually, they started coming out of hiding. Reba remained slightly cautious, but Harry adjusted quickly. Once he realized he was safe, well-fed, and cared for, he completely opened up to affection.

Despite his rough beginnings, within just 48 hours, Harry transformed into a loving and affectionate companion.

Before long, Harry would walk up to Amber for chin scratches and back rubs, purring loudly with happiness. Whenever Amber spoke, he would immediately turn toward her, eager for attention.

With regular meals and soft blankets, Harry became a happy biscuit-maker. “His trust and resilience truly amaze me,” Amber said.

Reba also slowly began to feel safe. She allowed gentle petting and stopped hiding under cabinets. As her pregnancy progressed, she enjoyed constant food and lovingly rubbed against her cozy nesting space.

“You can see the babies moving, and her belly hangs low—it looks very heavy,” Amber explained.

Harry adapted to indoor life as if he had always belonged there. He stayed close to Reba, offering comfort and companionship. Yet whenever Amber entered the room, he happily sought affection, purring and kneading right away.

In just a few days, he went from being a scared cat hiding under furniture to a loving, confident companion showing off his belly.

Reba continued to settle in and even started purring. Then one night, Amber woke up to soft cries—Reba had given birth to her first kitten.

Within 24 hours, all the kittens were born and resting peacefully beside their mother.

Amber felt relieved knowing Reba delivered her kittens safely indoors instead of outside. It may not have been her first litter, but it would be her last. Spaying and neutering help prevent endless litters and suffering.

“I’m so grateful she is safe now, along with Harry, raising her babies and getting a chance at a happy future,” Amber said.

“Supporting local rescues and foster caregivers is so important. It gives cats like Reba and her kittens the life they deserve.”

Reba is now caring for her kittens lovingly as they grow stronger each day. Meanwhile, Harry stays nearby, quietly watching over them and offering comfort with his gentle presence.

“He’s completely comfortable around the kittens, and Reba trusts him too. She’s warming up even more now and is a wonderful mother.”

Thanks to the kindness of these volunteers, this little family will never have to face life outdoors again. Their future is now filled with safety, warmth, and love.
