Kitten Found on the Street Barely Moving Turns into a Lively Cat and Won’t Let Anything Stop Her

Kitten Found on the Street

A tiny tortico kitten—showing off a beautiful mix of tortoiseshell and calico markings—was discovered alone in the middle of a street, barely able to move. There was no sign of her mother or any littermates, and her condition made it clear she needed urgent help.

A kind-hearted passerby quickly reached out to a local rescue network, determined to get the kitten to safety. Veronique answered the call without hesitation and welcomed the little one into a calm, warm environment where she could finally rest.

It soon became obvious that the kitten, later named Pastel, was struggling to walk. She couldn’t properly put weight on one of her back legs, so Veronique brought her straight to the veterinarian for a full examination.

X-rays confirmed that Pastel had suffered a broken leg. No one knew exactly how she had ended up injured and alone on the street, but one thing was certain—she had been found just in time.

Wanting to give the kitten the best possible chance, Veronique reached out to the community for support so Pastel could receive the treatment she urgently needed.

Thanks to the generosity of animal lovers, Pastel was able to undergo surgery to repair her leg. Afterward, a compassionate volunteer from Chatons Orphelins Montreal opened their home to foster her, giving her a safe and loving place to recover.

“She was incredibly lucky to have been found in time. She went straight to the clinic for surgery, and her leg was saved,” the rescue shared.

In the beginning, Pastel was understandably timid. But with regular meals, gentle care, and lots of patience, she slowly began to trust the people around her. The veterinary staff quickly fell in love with the sweet kitten, showering her with affection whenever they could.

Wrapped in cozy blankets and kept close while the staff worked, Pastel often drifted off to sleep in total comfort—something she likely hadn’t experienced before.

As the days passed and her body healed, Pastel’s true spirit started to shine. Before long, she was back on her feet, walking and running as though she had never been injured.

“She walks perfectly as if nothing had happened. After a few ‘burrito’ sessions, she discovered her first purr.”

Once she gained confidence, Pastel transformed into an energetic, playful kitten who embraced every new experience with excitement. She chased toys, explored every corner of the home, and made up for lost time with endless curiosity.

Her foster family quickly discovered that she was full of personality. Pastel zoomed around the house, climbed cat trees with ease, and turned ordinary moments into playful adventures.

“She’s very playful and loves playing fetch like a dog. She’s also a climber who loves heights, and she’s nimble with her big paws.”

One of Pastel’s most adorable features is that she is polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes. Her oversized paws look like little mittens, and she uses them with remarkable skill—snagging toys out of the air like a pro.

She also has a deeply affectionate side. Pastel comes running when she hears her name and has built wonderful bonds with the other cats in her foster home.

“Whenever we work from home in front of a computer, she comes to lie down near us, her head on our elbow.”

Her foster family says she adores feline companionship just as much as human attention. She plays enthusiastically with younger cats to burn off energy and seeks out the older cat in the home whenever she wants comfort and closeness.

The shy little kitten once found helpless on the street has grown into a lively, affectionate, and confident young cat. She chirps when she wants attention, eagerly shows up when it’s time to play, and especially loves her spinning bell and feather toy.

With her giant mitten paws and unstoppable spirit, Pastel has become an expert at catching anything that moves—and at winning hearts wherever she goes.

Her journey is a beautiful reminder of how powerful kindness and community can be. Because people chose to care, Pastel got the second chance she deserved.

Today, she runs, climbs, plays, and loves with all the joy of a kitten who knows she is finally safe. Now, this brave and charming little survivor is ready to find the forever home she’s been waiting for.
