A kind-hearted teacher spotted a cat stranded on a busy expressway, searching for safety. Caitlin, who volunteers with Little Wanderers NYC, knew she had to help. As soon as she stopped, she guided the tuxedo cat into her car, where the cat immediately settled comfortably, as if she belonged there.
The cat, named Hendricks, melted into Caitlin’s arms as she was brought to safety. She immediately sought affection and curled up peacefully, seemingly thankful for the shelter from the chaotic traffic. Her paw pads showed the rough journey she had been through, but in the car, she found comfort and peace.
Hendricks Finds Safety in Caitlin’s Lap
As the car ride continued, Hendricks became more relaxed, leaning into Caitlin for reassurance. She found a new sense of security, falling asleep on Caitlin’s lap, feeling loved and safe for the first time in a long while. Hendricks was most likely once a pet, but somehow ended up abandoned. Despite her difficult past, she quickly settled in, knowing that she was in good hands.

Once they reached a safe place, Caitlin contacted Little Wanderers NYC to provide Hendricks with the care she desperately needed. Hendricks was taken in, fully vetted, spayed, and treated for her injuries. She was now free from the hardships of the outdoors, ready to start a new chapter in her life.
Hendricks Settles Into Foster Care
In her new foster home, Hendricks quickly made herself comfortable. She found joy in her new bed, toys, and a bowl full of food. Her foster mom set up a cozy nook where Hendricks would roll onto her side, asking for belly rubs and soaking up all the love she could. Hendricks, now safe and content, began to heal and rediscovered the joy of being loved.
