A volunteer foster caregiver was initially asked to take in a single newborn kitten, but when two more arrived the following day, she knew she couldn’t turn them away.
Jen Marder, who volunteers with a rescue organization, received a request about a two-day-old calico kitten named Bungee. The tiny kitten had just been brought into a municipal shelter and urgently needed a foster home.
Jen quickly stepped in to help. Despite receiving constant care and attention, Bungee seemed to crave companionship. Understanding that young kittens often thrive better with others, Jen hoped to find more kittens of a similar age.

Luckily, she didn’t have to wait long. The very next day, two tabby sisters named Slinky and Pogo arrived at the same shelter. Healthy, energetic, and full of life, they were the perfect companions for Bungee.
Before introducing them, Jen kept the kittens in separate incubators to ensure they were medically safe. This precaution turned out to be important, as Bungee soon fell seriously ill.
The fragile kitten became too weak to eat on her own, and Jen had to begin tube-feeding her while also providing medication and care to support her breathing. It was a stressful time, but Bungee showed incredible strength and determination.
Slowly but surely, she recovered. When she finally regained the ability to drink from a bottle, Jen knew she was on the path to recovery.
Meanwhile, Slinky and Pogo continued to grow stronger. Slinky was calm and gentle, while Pogo was more vocal and expressive. After about two weeks, all three kittens were ready to meet.
When the introduction finally happened, it went better than expected. At first, Bungee was unsure, but within an hour, she was already snuggled up with her new companions.
From that moment on, the trio became inseparable. They played, chased each other, and cuddled constantly. Their favorite spot quickly became a cozy bed where they would pile together despite having plenty of space.
As they grew, their personalities became more visible. Slinky remained relaxed, Pogo continued to “talk” frequently, and Bungee stayed close to her caregiver, acting like a little shadow.
Now happy and thriving, Bungee has transformed completely thanks to the love of her new sisters. Together, the three kittens are full of life, ready to explore and enjoy the adventures ahead.
