Rescued Street Cat Begins to Shine—His Little Smile Warms Hearts Everywhere

After discovering four kittens, the cat adopted five more that were in need of a mother.

A call regarding a mother cat and her four kittens in need of a safe place to land was received by Best Friends Felines.

Good Samaritans had taken in the feline family because they couldn’t keep them for very long. They came to their aid because they wanted to give them the best chance at life. A volunteer went out right away to pick them up, but another message arrived while she was traveling.

In a nearby park, five more kittens had been discovered curled up together.

Although the mother of the five kittens was missing, they shared the same ancestry as the first family. “We don’t know what happened to her, only that she never came back,” the rescue said.

The first family’s mother cat welcomed the orphaned kittens right away and started treating them like her own. “She had already taken all nine kittens under her wing, snuggling them close and keeping them safe, when our carer arrived.”

The ten-person family settled into a comfortable room with toys, full food bowls, soft beds, and lots of room to explore. The unfamiliar surroundings and the sound of a storm outside initially made the mother cat, Celine, a little anxious. “But she soon relaxed, knowing her babies were safe.”

The park kittens were a little older, but they were extremely underweight and required additional feedings in addition to Celine’s careful attention. “To help them catch up, we started them on supportive feeds of kitten formula and baby cat mousse.”

Celine’s own kittens quickly became aware of the additional meals and gladly joined in.

The kittens started to flourish with the help of their foster mother, Jen. They gained weight and strength by devouring every meal. Jen was shocked to learn that all nine of the kittens were female.

They had a community supporting them, a loving person attending to all of their needs, and a super mom adoring them.

Bada, one of the kittens, scared her foster mother when she unexpectedly became sick, but with medicine, careful observation, and lots of affection, she recovered and doubled her weight in just one week. “She’s back to being her wild, wonderful self.”

Celine eventually let herself unwind as the kittens became healthy and self-sufficient. She found the joy of play again and stopped hovering over them.

Stretching out on a shelf above the pen, she began to take more time for herself. “She only stirred when she heard the unmistakable sound of food being served.”

“Celine has shown herself to be among the kindest and most affectionate cats we have ever encountered. She rushes to welcome guests for pets and conversation because she is self-assured, gregarious, and talkative. But affection is her favorite thing. She is appreciative of each tender touch and leans in for love.

Every day, the rescue consumed mountains of food to feed ten hungry mouths. Celine and her kittens had everything they needed to survive and never missed a meal because of the amazing support of their community.

The rescue hoped Mama Celine would find the caring home she deserved when the kittens were ready for their next phase.

Keely saved the day just before the New Year while looking for her best friend. It was love at first sight when she first saw Celine. “She knew Celine was the ideal companion for her.”

Celine eventually gets to be the baby herself, living the ideal life as the center of attention in her forever home, after raising nine kittens and showing them unconditional love. They saw a cat shine after saving him from the streets. Along the way, his small smile made people happy.

The rescue community was contacted by a committed cat colony caretaker regarding a tabby that wasn’t doing well.

When Kate, a Tails High foster volunteer, saw the request, she immediately offered her assistance. Herbie, also known as Herbert, immediately reminded her of Rupert, another foster cat. They both had soulful eyes and a charming little smile.

On the two-year anniversary of Rupert’s gotcha day, Herbie was fortuitously saved. “It feels like a sign,” Kate said.

Herbie was understandably shy and overwhelmed by all the changes when he first entered foster care. The majority of his time was spent in hiding, silently taking in his surroundings while attempting to make sense of them. He would gaze up at his foster mother with gentle, soft eyes despite his fear.

His mouth had been of particular concern to the caregiver. “It turns out he only has one tooth left.”

Herbie started to unwind in a peaceful setting with wholesome meals. He stuck his head out of his cubby bed to observe the new sights and scents. He gained the confidence to explore and even pursue affection as curiosity took the place of fear.

Herbie eventually emerged from his shell after a few days.

He emerged from his hiding place and approached Kate directly, nudging her for a pet. Herbie felt safe for the first time in a long time. As he leaned into his foster mother and soaked up all the love, his purr motor roared to life.

He couldn’t get enough cuddles after realizing he didn’t need to hide anymore.

When Herbie first cuddled in bed with his foster mother, he closed his eyes in complete satisfaction. “He hopped up on the bed and slept next to me all night after he and adoptable Nona (another foster cat) sniffed each other a little.”

His purrs were so loud that the entire room seemed to hum as he caressed his foster mother.

Herbie, who is thought to be seven or eight years old, is now leading a much healthier life. He is enjoying every second of his new life while he continues to receive care to return to optimal condition.

Herbie has changed into a complete love bug who yearns to be near his human. Every morning, he is the first thing Kate sees, curled up on top of her. He is the cutest page holder and provides loving head boops to keep her company while she reads.

“He is such a sweetheart, and we’re so glad he’s indoors with Kate as we look at the snow outside.”

Herbie made the decision to cuddle with his roommate, Strega Nona, who had spent five winters outside before being saved.
