Joey’s right eye completely healed, although his left eye still requires additional protection. Washburn entered the world of dog fostering thanks to her close friend Billie Wensveen, who she describes as both a best friend and a “bonus mom.” Wensveen had welcomed Washburn into her home several years earlier so she could focus on nursing school studies. Together they often share updates about their foster dogs on TikTok through Wensveen’s account. Joey arrived at a particularly emotional time in Washburn’s life.
