They Take in Kittens and a Cat Thought to Be Their Mother, Only to Discover the Gentle Protector is a Male

Take in Kittens and a Cat

Two kittens were rescued alongside a cat believed to be their mother, but it was soon discovered that their gentle protector was actually a male.

Last month, a concerned individual contacted a local rescue organization, Best Friends Felines, after finding three struggling cats in their yard. Among them were two small kittens, about two months old, who stayed close to a larger orange-and-white cat.

Although the rescue was already at full capacity, they stepped in without hesitation. The team safely brought in the starving kittens along with the adult cat, initially assumed to be their mother. However, it didn’t take long to realize that the adult cat was, in fact, a male.

Rescuers thoroughly searched the area to ensure no other cats were left behind, but none were found. Based on the kittens’ condition, it was believed that their actual mother had likely moved on.

The kittens, later named Dobby and Gremlin, were underweight, dirty, and frightened. Despite their condition, they were finally safe and beginning a new chapter.

The adult cat, named Linkle, was estimated to be around 18 months old. Despite his rough past, marked by visible scars from life on the streets, he showed remarkable gentleness and kindness. He allowed the kittens to stay close, offering them comfort and protection.

From the very beginning, Linkle naturally took on the role of a caretaker. He stayed close to the kittens, keeping them warm and providing reassurance. The kittens often hid behind him, using him as a shield while adjusting to their new environment.

Not long after arriving at the foster home, Linkle was seen cuddling one of the kittens as they slept together, a moment that highlighted his caring nature.

Although initially nervous, Linkle began showing signs of trust. He even started playing and interacting with his foster family, revealing a loving personality beneath his cautious exterior.

Meanwhile, the kittens began to grow more comfortable. Dobby developed a playful personality, enjoying toys and finding creative places to nap. Gremlin, smaller but full of energy, quickly became confident and playful, often chasing and tackling his brother.

As days passed, Linkle continued to gain confidence. He adjusted to indoor life, discovered simple joys like treats and mirrors, and gradually learned to trust humans. Despite his own journey, he never stopped caring for the kittens, always ready to comfort and protect them.

Thanks to their rescue, the trio no longer had to worry about survival. They now enjoy warm beds, regular meals, and the comfort of safety. Each night, they sleep peacefully together, surrounded by care and affection.

Linkle remains a devoted companion with a heart full of love. His story is a touching reminder that even animals who have faced hardship can show incredible compassion, given the chance to feel safe and cared for.
